My Physio Online
I'm answering your questions!
No ! A medical prescription is not required.
However, if during the assessment, it seems to me that a medical consultation is necessary, I will let you know.
If your insurance plan covers physiotherapy, you should check whether a medical prescription is required to claim for reimbursement.
Take a moment to think about why you’re consulting me.
- For pain or an injury: When did it start? Was there a triggering event? What increases symptoms and what alleviates them? Are there any interventions that have been tried so far?
- For a running plan: Are you a beginner? Do you already have running experience? How often would you like to run? Would you like to combine other activities with your running plan? What is your goal? I may also write to you before the meeting to ask you to film yourself running so that I can check the video during our meeting.
- For a strength training or fitness program: Where would you like to work out? At home, outdoors, at the gym? Are you a beginner? Do you already have experience in strength training? How often would you like to workout? Would you like to mix other activities with your strength training program? What is your goal?
Whatever your reason for consulting me, it’s a good idea to take a moment to think about it and set your goals!
Make sure you have a computer or tablet with which you can connect to the Teams meeting.
Make sure you attend the meeting in a place where you have enough space to move around.
Wear comfortable clothes to move with ease.
If you are taking any medication, please have the list with you so that I can take a look at it.
If you’ve had a medical examination such as an X-ray or CT scan, please have the report ready for me to take a look at.
First, we’ll talk a lot: I want to get a full understanding of why you’re investing your precious time to meet with me. I want to understand your goals and expectations. This is always true, regardless of your reason for consulting me.
What happens next will depend on why you are consulting me:
- If it is for physiotherapy, we will do a physical exam! Yes, even online, it’s possible. I might ask you to do this or that movement, send me a photo of your posture, or even of your workstation!
- If it is about running, we will also do a physical exam. I’ll watch the videos of you running and share my thoughts with you. I might also ask you to send me photos of your posture, check your shoes, etc.
- For strength training and fitness, we may also do a physical exam to figure out your initial level and monitor your progress over time.
In this first meeting, we will then discuss therapeutic or training options suitable for you. We’ll talk about the pros and cons, and consider your situation and goals to make the best decision for you.
In some situations, such as physiotherapy assessments, I’ll give you a program of exercises to start with right away, and we can practice these exercises together during our first meeting. This exercise program will be sent to you by e-mail.
In other situations, for example when I have to build a 1-month running plan or a 1-month strength training and fitness program for you, I’ll have to prepare the program after the first session and we’ll plan a second session together so that I can show it to you. Please note, however, that the price of the first session also includes the price of the second session (we have 1 hour, divided in two: 2 sessions of 30 minutes each).
In any case, if it’s relevant, I could also share Youtube videos or other documentation with you. In addition, if a report for your physician is required, I can also send it to you in PDF format.
That’s a lot of information, but if you need specific information about your situation, send me a mail!
